NSFAS application status: How to check on your National Student Financial Aid Scheme application
Haven’t received a response for your National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) application for admission? Don’t fret – simply check the status of your application.
Then you apply for study funding at National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS), you can usually expect response few days after the application closing date. However, if you still haven’t heard back from the National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) it might be time to take things into your own hands. It’s not a difficult process, but to make things even easier, we’ve provided you with the below link which you can click to access.
Step 1:
- If you would like to check the status of your 2020 NSFAS application, please visit the NSFAS website. Click on MyNSFAS account and login with your ID and the password you created during your application.

If the status of your application is “Provisionally Funded”, please contact Unisa’s Division: Student Funding (DSF). Please contact NSFAS for all other outcomes, as NSFAS is responsible for the application process.

Everyone wanting to start a new qualification must apply for admission. This includes first-time Unisa applicants and Unisa students changing to a new qualification.
Everyone completing a Higher Certificate or Alternative Pathway / Extended Programme must apply for admission to the follow-on qualification.
You must re-apply for admission if you previously applied for admission and received feedback, but did not register for any reason.
Everyone planning to enroll for classes at a Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) college under the Unisa-TVET agreement must apply for admission.
Please note: You must re-apply for admission if you previously applied for admission and were offered a space, but did not accept the offer and / or did not register for any reason.
South African Applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R105 for online applications.
Applicants applying via Unisa for a TVET college can use a hardcopy application – the application fee for this is R160.
