MNABITHI TVET COLLEGE INFORMATION

Ladysmith Technical College, Ezakheni Technical College, Ezakheni Ex-college of Education, and Ezakheni Skills Centre merged to form Mnambithi TVET College in 2002. Mnambithi TVET College is located in the KwaZulu-Natal midlands, near Ladysmith and Estcourt.

Estcourt, Weenen, Bergville, Winterton, Pomeroy, Msinga, Dundee, Van Reneen, Mooi River, Greytown, and Ladysmith are among its catchment areas. The Department of Education and Culture established Ladysmith Technical College in the early 1960s. Adult self-improvement courses were the company’s first offering. By 1984, the college’s business courses, which ranged from N1 to N3, had been codified. This was raised to N4–N6 in both Business and Engineering degrees in 1991.

The then-Department of Education established Ezakheni Technical College and Skills Centre in the early 1980s. Both training centres provided block-release artisan education as well as three-month short skills courses in plumbing, motor mechanics, welding, and carpentry. Nated courses ranging from N1 to N6 Engineering courses were available in the 1990s. The College’s Central Office and Ladysmith Campus are located in the heart of Ladysmith on the banks of the Klipriver. The Ezakheni campuses are located in Ezakheni Township, about 25 kilometres outside of town.

The Department of Education relocated the former Ezakheni Ex-College of Education premises to Mnambithi TVET College in early 2008. On this property, state-of-the-art Workshops have been constructed, and it will be classified as an engineering campus. Mnambithi TVET College inherited premises in Estcourt in 2009, and a new campus in Bergville is set to open soon. Mnambithi TVET College intends to expand its satellite campuses in the near future to reach out to more people and meet their educational needs.
